    Gianfranco Buscema is an Italian pianist, composer and arranger. He was born in Ragusa (Sicily) at about 10 am on a day of heavy rain and cloud 22.288 under the sign of Aquarius, exactly 22,288 days ago (he is a mature man of 61 years). Now he lives in Pozzallo (Ragusa), a small town in the extreme south coast of Sicily, facing the Mediterranean Sea, close to the northern coast of the African continent, with his wife Evelina (56), his daughter Gaia (28) and his son Angelo (22).

    He began studying the piano at a young age under the guidance of Giovanni Bergamasco and later of Nyta Agnello Curcio, under whose guidance, in 1987 at the age of 22 years, he graduated with honors from the Conservatory "Vincenzo Bellini "of Palermo.

    He attended several Courses and Master Classes with pianists and teachers of international fame such as Francesco Nicolosi (Naples), Bruno Canino (Milan), Eli Perrotta (Milan), Adrian Vasilache (Romania), Lee Phillips (USA). He also attended courses of Analysis and Composition of Eliodoro Sollima (Palermo), under whose guidance he began the study of the composition.

    He has participated in numerous music festivals, playing for various Organizations and Associations Concert such as "Friends of Music", "Musical Youth of Italy", "Amnesty International", "Telethon", both as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles, with cellist Arturo Bonucci, violinist Romanian Radu Jelescu, soprano Gianna Buniato, tenor Gianni Iaia, the Japanese soprano Nobuko Izawa.

    In 2008 he received his Master's Degree in Music, Interpretation and Compositional address at the Institute of High Musical Studies "Vincenzo Bellini" in Caltanissetta with a score of 110 out of 110 cum laude, with a thesis entitled "Relationship between Music and Mathematics, From the Golden Section to Fibonacci Numbers", as supervisors prof. Sergio Mascarà and prof. Ivan Emma.

    In 2009 he was awarded the prestigious "Giara di Platino" for achievements in the field of music. He later earned his second Master's Degree with a thesis on "The Creative Methods for Piano, including piano practice and symbolic play" as a supervisor prof. Roberto Carnevale.

    He currently teaches "Performance and Interpretation" at the Music High School "Giovanni Verga" in Modica (Ragusa) and holds the position of Artistic Director of '"Mediterranean Academy of Music", in which he teaches "Composition and Analysis", "Reading, Theory and Ear Training" and "History of Music".
